Karachi restaurateur shot, injured by extortionists: police

KARACHI: A 24-year-old staffer was shot and injured as alleged extortionists fired at a restaurant in Kharadar area early Monday morning, police said.

The extortionists threw a paper inside the restaurant premises, demanding Rs1 million, police added.

"The paper has an international number listed on it and it appears that the staffer was shot after he refused to pay extortion money,” the police further said.

Sindh Inspector General Kaleem Imam has taken notice of the incident and summoned a report from Sindh DIG (South), according to officials.

A case has been filed against the incident, which includes clauses of terrorism, extortion and attempt to murder.
